Sajid Khan Names This Indian Cricketer as His Inspiration

In a recent television interview, Pakistan’s new spin wizard Sajid Khan has opened up about his admiration for former Indian captain MS Dhoni, describing him as his “inspiration” due to his “cool, calm, and successful” leadership style.

Sajid praised Dhoni’s iconic approach to captaincy, emphasizing the calm yet effective strategy that defined the former World Cup winning captain’s career.

Reflecting on his own experience, the 31-year-old shared that he has also captained teams across various levels, including Under-13, club, and first-class sides. When asked about his leadership influences, Sajid Khan didn’t hesitate to point to Dhoni, saying, “The best captain is MS Dhoni. He is a very cool, calm, and successful captain.”

When pressed about whether he brings an aggressive edge to his own captaincy, Sajid downplayed the focus on style. Instead, he stressed that “the strategy of the captain matters more than being a captain or not,” showing a measured approach similar to his idol.

Known for his composed presence, Sajid said that he liked to incorporate Dhoni-like qualities in his own leadership.

Sajid, who debuted for Pakistan back in 2021, has had an intermittent journey with the national team.

However, his hugely impressive return against England in which he took 19 wickets in two Test matches last month to lead Pakistan to a series victory means that he is going to be part of the test team for many years to come.
