Alzarri Joseph, the fiery West Indies pacer, got plenty of heads turning during his side’s series-clinching win against England in the third ODI.
The 27-year-old caused controversy when he walked back to the dressing room after bowling just 2 overs after a disagreement with his captain Shai Hope.
Reportedly, the two bickered about field placement before Joseph decided to head to the locker room in protest. Alzarri Joseph and Hope engaged in a heated argument in just the fourth over, with umpires stepping in to urge Joseph back into the game.
Tensions remained high as Joseph stormed off the field briefly after a contentious exchange, prompting West Indies coach Daren Sammy to attempt to mediate from the boundary.
Despite the incident, Joseph produced a fearsome spell, taking the crucial early wicket of Jordan Cox with a brutal 148 kph delivery that reared up off a short length, leaving Cox with little chance as he gloved it to Hope. His fiery pace and hostility saw England struggling at 24-4 after the 10-over powerplay, setting the tone for a hard-fought innings.
The visitors managed to get to 263/8 in the end but the target proved to be a cakewalk for the hosts as Brandon King and Keacy Carty struck commanding centuries to drive the West Indies to a resounding eight-wicket victory with 42 balls to spare.
The win gave West Indies a 2-1 victory in the series against an experimental England side. The two teams will now shift their focus to the five-match T20I series up next.
