Pakistan’s Haris Rauf entered the record books during his team’s second ODI against Australia at Adelaide.
The pacer wreaked havoc in the Australian batting line-up claiming a five-wicket haul, continuing from his excellent start in Melbourne.
While he could not get the job done in the first game, he made up for it in the second. With the surface offering him some seam movement Haris Rauf sent back Josh Inglis, Marnus Labuschagne, Pat Cummins, Glenn Maxwell and Aaron Hardie to register the best figures by a Pakistani pacer at Adelaide.
His spell of 5/29 from 8 overs ties him with Saqlain Mushtaq who managed to achieve the same against the Aussies in 1996. Rauf’s numbers are the best for a bowler in the first innings of the game.
Best Bowling Figures at Adelaide by Pakistanis:
Player | Figures |
Saqlain Mushtaq | 5/29 in 1996 |
Haris Rauf | 5/29 in 2024 |
Sohail Khan | 5/55 in 2015 |
Wasim Raja | 4/27 in 1982 |
Ijaz Faqih | 4/43 in 1984 |
Haris Rauf was well supported by Naseem Shah, Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Hasnain as Pakistan wrapped up Australia for 163.
Pakistan needs to win the game in order to keep the series alive heading into Perth for the third and final game of the series.
