The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has firmly dismissed recent Indian media reports suggesting that the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, hosted by Pakistan, would employ a “hybrid model.”
According to PCB sources, there is no truth to claims that matches involving India might be shifted to the UAE due to political and security concerns.
Instead, the PCB has confirmed that the tournament will be held entirely within Pakistan.
“There is no consideration of any hybrid model,” a PCB source emphasized, dispelling any speculation about moving India’s matches out of Pakistan.
The PCB is fully committed to hosting the Champions Trophy exclusively on home soil, with active efforts underway to enhance venues in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi to meet international standards.
This clarity from the PCB follows the Asia Cup 2023, which was conducted using a hybrid model under former PCB chairman Najam Sethi. India did not travel to Pakistan for the competition but instead played all its games in Sri Lanka.
BCCI has remained adamant on using the same modalities this time as well but PCB officials reiterated that a similar arrangement will not apply to the Champions Trophy.
An International Cricket Council (ICC) delegation is scheduled to visit Lahore from November 10 to 12 to review Pakistan’s preparations, with an official event on November 11 expected to announce the tournament’s schedule and key details.
Sources indicate that the proposed tournament schedule has already been shared with ICC member nations.
The Champions Trophy is slated for February 19 to March 9, 2025, whether India travels to Pakistan or not.Â
