The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has started blocking unregistered VPNs in Pakistan. Sources in PTA told ProPakistani that unregistered VPNs are being blocked through a firewall and are temporarily blocked for whitelisting.
PTA sources added that unregistered VPNs pose a security risk, as they can access sensitive data and illegal or objectionable content. The PTA is responsible for protecting public and organizational data and preventing access to illegal content.
According to PTA sources, VPN registration began in 2020, and over the last fourteen years, around 20,500 VPNs have been registered. More than 1,422 companies have registered VPNs so far.
Sources further added that the authority wants to speed up the VPN registration and whitelisting process. Countries like China, Russia, Iran, Turkey, and others have blocked unregistered VPNs. The UAE, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia also block unregistered VPNs, and some countries allow VPNs only for business use. PTA sources say there is no restriction on VPNs for business use in Pakistan.
Notably, users in Pakistan have been complaining about issues using free VPNs for several hours. Many users relied on free VPNs to access the social media platform X, but they are now complaining that free VPNs are not working.
It is noteworthy that Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, has banned the use of X in Pakistan. However, he frequently violates this ban by posting on X using a VPN.
When PTA’s spokesperson was contacted regarding the VPN blockage, no response was provided to questions about the VPN shutdown.

Very nice writing.
They’re likely using protocol identification. Use Windscribe and change protocol to UDP, stealth etc. Use my referral link for sign-up to get additional free data every month. Thanks a lot!

The war against VPNs can never be won by censors cuz of the way the internet is structured. There will always be a way, In shaa Allah! But please don’t use VPNs for immorality for your own sake, fear Allah & establish prayers!
For Censors: Stop the stupidity. People flock to the shady VPNs cuz of this & hand over all their data to them. For example, CyberGhost, Zenmate, Private Internate Access, ExpressVPN and multiple VPN review sites VPNMentor are now all owned by the “UK-based” Israeli company, Kape Technologies, which was founded by an Israeli billionaire Teddy Sagi, who has links with the Israeli Defense Forces.
Reasons to Use Windscribe:
1. It allows anonymous sign-ups.
2. It has a no-log policy with security audits.
3. The transparency report section shows real-time data requests from copyright and law enforcement agencies. Exactly zero requests are complied with due to the lack of relevant data.
4. It’s encrypted with industry-leading AES-256 cipher cÌ„ SHA512 auth and a 4096-bit RSA key.
5. It has a firewall that is superior to a kill switch & can ensure complete protection at all times, even if the connection breaks or is lost. A kill-switch can leak identifying information especially during or after a restart or loss of power.
6. Free version is generous too in monthly bandwidth.
7. All servers are RAM-only diskless setups, & are physical instead of virtual servers except one i.e. Antarctica.
8. It’s humorous & features-rich (advanced DNS, IP-level blocker, dedicated servers for streaming, split-tunneling etc.).
9. It has a great blog with great insights into its own technicals, censorship trends, counter mechanisms, and the overall VPN industry.
10. It doesn’t pay for any advertising or use influencers or paid-VPN affiliates on review sites but instead relies on word of mouth by its exiting satisfied users.
11. It allows unlimited devices except in case of commercial usage.
12. It is available for all type of devices, including ARM processors as well as routers!

So fear Allah and be moderate in seeking provision; take that which is permissible and leave that which is forbidden.” Reference: Sunan Ibn Majah 2144, Grade: Sahih

Security Risk 😂😂😂
This is only due to PTI.
But others people being affected too.
20500 users have registered vpn, this is also misleading claim.
Iran has bought firewall from China and have worst censorship than even from China.
Irani govt failed to block VPNs.
But jaisa k Pakistan mein her shakh per ulu betha hai,
They think they can ban people to not to use VPN.
They are only wasting people time to search and purchase or use free vpn.
Foreign investors are already leaving this joker country.
You are pouring oil in fire.
