Cricket comedy unfolded during an ongoing match of Bangladesh‘s National Cricket League between Sylet and Khulna at Cox’s Bazar as Mahedi Hasan bowled the most ridiculous delivery in the history of the game to dismiss Sylet’s centurion batter Asadulla Al Galib.
The incident occurred during the third ball of the 160th over of Sylhet’s innings, with Khulna’s Mahedi Hasan at the bowling crease. Mahedi delivered a ball that slipped from his grasp, soaring high into the air in an unintentional lob.
Sylhet’s Asadulla Al Galib, who had already amassed 115 runs, stepped out of his crease. He swung his bat with all his might from nearly outside the pitch, only to lose his balance and tumble to the ground.
The mistimed shot sent the ball sailing toward the deep. There, substitute fielder Jawad Royen was perfectly positioned to take the catch, completing the most bizarre dismissal in cricket history.
This bizarre wicket brought an end to a formidable 251-run partnership between Al Galib and Sylhet’s captain, Amite Hasan, who had contributed a commanding 213 runs to the team’s total. Following this dismissal, Sylhet declared their innings at an impressive 496-7.
Despite the unusual nature of the delivery, Mahedi Hasan emerged as the standout bowler for Khulna, claiming four wickets throughout his exhaustive 61-over spell.
The clip of this “brilliant” bit of cricket went viral on social media. Fans and commentators alike were quick to share their amusement, with one user humorously noting, “The batsman wanted the wicket more than the bowler,” while another declared it “Perhaps the wicket of history.”
