Lahore is Getting a Model Cattle Market Soon

The Punjab government has initiated the construction of a state-of-the-art cattle market in Shahpur Kanjran, Lahore.

The groundbreaking ceremony was led by Ibrahim Tariq Shafi, Chairman of the Punjab Cattle Market Management and Development Company (PCMMDC).

With a budget of 4.5 billion rupees, the project is set to be completed within six months. The Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) has been entrusted with the construction to ensure transparency and high-quality standards.

The new market aims to upgrade the existing facility into a modern hub equipped with contemporary amenities. Key features will include spacious parking, an administrative office block, a mosque, restrooms, hotels, and quarantine centers. Advanced livestock sheds and a dedicated cattle show arena, modeled after Brazil’s livestock markets, will also be part of the project.

This modern facility is designed to address long-standing issues like limited parking and inadequate infrastructure, enhancing the experience for both livestock traders and customers.

In addition to improving local facilities, the project is expected to boost Pakistan’s economy by supporting meat exporters and increasing foreign exchange earnings.

The new market is poised to benefit Lahore’s residents and improve the efficiency and productivity of Punjab’s livestock sector.
