PCB Postpones Shaheens vs Sri Lanka A Amid Political Unrest

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), in coordination with Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), has postponed the remaining two 50-over matches of the ongoing Pakistan Shaheens-Sri Lanka A series due to political activity in Islamabad.

Originally scheduled for Wednesday and Friday at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, the matches have been deferred, with both boards set to work together to decide new dates for completing the series.

PCB’s Chairman Mohsin Naqvi also serves as the country’s Interior Minister who is hands-on dealing with the growing unrest in the country’s capital making the cricketing situation more complicated.

PCB has not stated how it will spin the Shaheens and Sri Lanka A series getting canceled during ICC’s upcoming emergency meeting to determine the fate of the Champions Trophy next year.

Rawalpindi is set to be one of the three host cities for the competition and the current political climate may strengthen BCCI’s bid to take the hosting rights away from Pakistan.

The Pakistan Shaheens currently lead the series, having secured a 1-0 victory in the two-match four-day format and claiming a commanding 108-run win in the opening 50-over encounter on Monday.
