Pakistan’s Asim Khan and Noor Zaman have progressed to the quarter-finals of the PSA Cape Town Open 2024. Asim reached the last eight following an impressive 3-1 victory over Egypt’s Seif El Shenawy in the second round on Wednesday.
The sixth-seeded Khan delivered a dominant performance with game scores of 11-4, 3-11, 11-9, and 11-5 to secure his spot in the next round.
The 28-year-old Asim Khan will now face Abdullah Al Tamimi, the tournament’s top seed from Qatar, in a highly anticipated quarter-final match.
Khan’s win marks another step in what has been a stellar year for the Pakistani squash player. He is fresh off claiming his first PSA World Tour title at the Charlottesville Open, where he triumphed over top-seeded Nick Wall of England in a thrilling final.

Meanwhile, Noor Zaman, another promising Pakistani player, joined Asim Khan in the Cape Town Open last eight after a battling 11-6, 9-11, 11-7, and 11-9 win over Egypt’s Yassin Shohdy, He will be up against the second seed Declan James of England in his quarterfinal which is scheduled for today.
The ongoing PSA Cape Town Open, part of the PSA Copper event, features a $25,000 prize pool and has attracted top international squash talent.
