The Prime Minister’s Inter-University Sports Olympiad, a prestigious event organized in collaboration with various universities and the Higher Education Commission (HEC), took place in Islamabad, bringing together athletes from 170 universities across Pakistan.
The University of Karachi (KU) made a strong impact, competing in a range of sports, including athletics, youth hockey, volleyball, and swimming.
The standout performer for KU at the Inter-University Sports Olympiad was Natasha Hasan, who delivered a stellar performance, securing two gold medals. She not only won both races but also set new records—first in the 5000m race with an impressive time of 21:12.53 seconds, followed by a record-breaking performance in the 10,000m race with a time of 44:53.00 seconds.
Qandeel Sultan also shone in the event, earning a bronze medal in the 5000m race.
Later, the KU relay team, consisting of Natasha Hasan, Qandeel Sultan, Nida Shah, and Bushra Zaman, clinched a bronze medal in the 4x400m relay, further cementing the university’s reputation for athletic excellence. KU’s participation in other events, such as girls’ hockey, boys’ volleyball, and swimming, also showcased the university’s commitment to holistic sports development.
The athletics team was led by team manager Syed Gohar Raza, with Sylveistain Dean and Shahbaz Ahmed taking the coaching duties. The University of Karachi’s outstanding performances, particularly in athletics, reflect the institution’s unwavering dedication to nurturing talent and promoting sports excellence across a wide range of disciplines.
Meanwhile, the Inter-University Sports Olympiad was another event in a string of initiatives to get youth involved in Sporting activities.
