Former Indian CM Urges BCCI to Allow India’s Participation in Champions Trophy

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav has publicly expressed his support for the Indian cricket team traveling to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025.

Involving politics in sports is never a good approach. Don’t all countries take part in the Olympics? So, why should India refuse to go to Pakistan? What is the objection? If the Prime Minister [Modi] can visit for a meal, why is it a problem if the Indian cricket team travels there?

Tejashwi Yadav’s comments reflect a broader sentiment echoed by many in Pakistan, including former cricketers, who believe that politics should not influence sporting decisions.

However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has yet to grant permission for India’s men’s cricket team to participate in next year’s Champions Trophy, citing security concerns as their primary reason.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has remained firm in its commitment to host the event exclusively on Pakistani soil in 2025, a stance that has become a point of contention within the International Cricket Council (ICC).

As the governing body of international cricket prepares to make its ruling, the spotlight is now firmly on the ICC to resolve the issue, with the final decision expected soon.

Tejashwi  Yadav, who has a background in cricket, appears to understand the fundamental principles at play in this debate, making his opinion particularly noteworthy as the world waits for the ICC’s verdict.
