The Punjab Traffic Police reported issuing over 841,000 driving licenses in November 2024, showcasing significant progress in license issuance across the province.
This includes more than 243,000 learner licenses, 308,000 fresh licenses, and 284,000 license renewals. Over 4,500 international licenses were also issued during the same period.
To meet the growing demand, licensing centers in major cities operated 24/7. Additional IG Traffic confirmed these measures have improved efficiency and accessibility for citizens.
In a separate initiative, the Punjab Traffic Police allocated a full day for issuing licenses to rickshaw drivers. Special driving tests for rickshaw drivers will be held every Sunday at designated centers. This decision followed a meeting between Additional IG Traffic and the Secretary of Transport.
The report also noted that Punjab set a record in 2023 by issuing over 10 million driving licenses, a milestone recognized by then-Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who praised the Punjab Police and PITB for their efforts.
