The Sindh government has announced plans to open 3,000 primary schools across the province as part of the Non-Formal Literacy Education Project. The initiative aims to enhance access to education in underserved areas with the support of non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
Initially, schools will be set up in five districts: Mirpur Khas, Umerkot, Tharparkar, Kashmore, and Jacobabad. Under the plan, NGOs will manage the schools, while the Sindh School Education Department will provide financial assistance.
Additionally, NGOs will supply school buildings, textbooks, and uniforms to ensure smooth operations. A formal agreement between the School Education Department and participating NGOs will outline roles and responsibilities.
A Selection Committee meeting has been scheduled for December 9 at 3:30 PM to finalize the details. The meeting, to be held at the office of the Director of Non-Formal Literacy Education, will be chaired by Chief Education Development and Planning Officer Sarfaraz.
Deputy Secretaries Muhammad Azeem and Ashraf Hussain Ansari, along with other key officials, will attend the meeting to discuss and plan the implementation of the project.
