Islamabad, boasts an extensive and modern public transportation network, including a metro bus system that connects key areas across the city.
For both residents and visitors, navigating the city’s diverse neighborhoods and business hubs has never been easier. This guide provides a detailed look at the different metro routes and shuttle services in Islamabad, making your travel experience more convenient.
Red Line
The Red Line is one of the most vital routes of the Islamabad Metro, offering an efficient connection across several important areas in the city.
Starting from Saddar, a prominent commercial area, it runs all the way to Pak Secretariat, passing through some of the city’s busiest and most significant stations.
Key stops include Parade Ground, a hub for government offices, Shaheed-e-Millat, 7th Avenue, and Stock Exchange—perfect for commuters working in central Islamabad.
Other notable stations along the Red Line are PIMS (Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences), Katchehry, and Ibn-e-Sina. The route also covers areas like Kashmir Highway, Faiz Ahmed Faiz, Khayaban-e-Johar, IJP Road, Shamsabad, and 6th Road, making it accessible to several residential sectors.
Whether you’re heading to business meetings, medical centers, or exploring Islamabad’s central areas, the Red Line offers easy access.
Orange Line
The Orange Line, another crucial metro route, connects eastern Islamabad with the rest of the city.
Starting at Faiz Ahmed Faiz, the route runs through major sectors such as H-9/G-9, IIUI/G-10, and High Court. As it continues, it links commuters to vital educational institutions like NUST/G-12, and it covers both Golra Mor and Grand Trunk Road before concluding at 26 No.
The Orange Line is an essential route for those traveling from the eastern parts of Islamabad and provides quick access to key residential and commercial zones.
For travelers heading to or from Islamabad International Airport, the Airport Shuttle Service is the most direct and convenient option.
The shuttle service operates between Badhana Kalan/G-16 and the Islamabad Airport, with intermediate stops at M1/M2 Interchange and Rakh Pind Ranjha. This specialized shuttle ensures a hassle-free trip for both local commuters and international passengers looking to catch a flight or arrive in the city.
Blue Line
The Blue Line offers another vital connection, running between PIMS Hospital and Gulberg.
It covers important areas such as G-7/G-8, H-8/Shakarparian, and I-8/Parade Ground.
The route also passes through Faizabad, Sohan, and Iqbal Town, among other stations.
For those commuting through central Islamabad, the Blue Line serves as an efficient option, connecting multiple key locations in a straightforward manner.
Green Line
Similarly, the Green Line Bus Service plays an essential role in providing connectivity across Islamabad.
Starting from PIMS and concluding at Bharakahu, this line links several significant destinations, including G-7/G-8, CDA, Aabpara, Foreign Office, Lake View Park, and Malpur.
It is ideal for travelers moving between residential areas and those heading toward the outskirts of the city.
Apart from these major routes, Feeder Routes also play an important role in enhancing connectivity within the metro network.
These feeder routes link various neighborhoods to the main metro stations, making it easier for commuters in peripheral areas to access the metro system.
Whether you’re in the F-6, F-10, or G-11 sectors, there’s likely a feeder route that will bring you closer to the metro stations, ensuring a seamless travel experience.

Saqib bhai with all due respect,
Kitna fuzul or timewasting article likha hai apne, koi map hi de do ffs,
Itni technology ka zamana or metro bus stops ka map deny k bajay fuzul useless baten, jahil log
No, this cannot be called ‘extensive’. First, as a user of twin city’s metro bus service, I can say with confidence that the network is neither modern nor convenient. Convenient public transport systems are a network, not in straight lines. In this case only the people who live close to metro stations can benefit. From my place, the closest metro station is 1.5 kms. There is no public transport from my place to the metro station. Second, the service is poor. People have not developed a culture of the use of public transport. They start pushing their way into the bus even before the passengers in the bus have disembarked. Throughout the journey, an announcement cautions the passengers against pickpockets. The buses do not stop at all stations due to the various reasons. There are many problems.
Plz give information about feeder routes.its more important
Informative blog.
Suggestion
There should also be buses which would cover the park road side which is very important because there is so much traffic there and there is no bus service for it.
Here’s a map for it:
