International Student Arrested in Canada After Multiple Sexual Assaults

A 22-year-old Indian national, Arshdeep Singh, residing in Brampton, has been arrested in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) in connection with multiple alleged sexual assaults. Singh, who came to Canada as an international student in 2022, is accused of targeting victims by posing as a rideshare operator.

According to Peel Regional Police (PRP), Singh lured three women into his vehicle by speaking to them in Punjabi, suggesting the victims were also of Indian origin. The first incident occurred on November 8 at around 7 a.m., when Singh allegedly approached a woman waiting at a bus stop in Brampton. Driving a black four-door sedan, he reportedly posed as a rideshare driver, transported her to Vaughan, and sexually assaulted her.

Less than 45 minutes later, Singh allegedly repeated the act with another woman at a different bus stop in Brampton, taking her to another location before assaulting her. The third incident followed a similar pattern on November 16 at approximately 6:45 a.m., involving a different four-door sedan.

PRP investigators believe Singh is responsible for all three incidents. The suspect faces multiple charges, including three counts of kidnapping, sexual assault, sexual assault with a weapon, sexual assault by strangulation, robbery, and two counts of uttering threats.

Police have urged the public not to accept unsolicited rides from unknown individuals. “Thank you to the team of dedicated investigators who worked around the clock to make this arrest. We’ll continue to do everything we can to stop gender-based and sexual violence and hold those responsible accountable,” said PRP Deputy Chief Nick Milinovich.

The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities emphasizing public safety and vigilance.
