Apple’s 20th Anniversary iPhone Leak Shows Futuristic Redesign

Apple may be testing a larger display and a major design update for its 20th anniversary iPhone, according to a new leak.

Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station claims Apple is prototyping a display measuring around 6.96 inches, which could be marketed as a 7-inch screen if it reaches production. The panel is being linked to the future iPhone 20 Pro Max, although Apple has not confirmed the device or the display size.

The rumored display would be only slightly larger than the current Pro Max screen.

According to the leak, Apple is expected to keep the same aspect ratio as the current iPhone Pro Max model. That means the phone may not feel dramatically wider or harder to hold, despite the larger display size.

The report also notes that Apple tests many prototype parts before launch, so the 6.96-inch display is not guaranteed to appear in a final product.

Major Anniversary Redesign

The display leak follows earlier reports that Apple is planning a major redesign for the iPhone’s 20th anniversary.

The upcoming Pro models are rumored to feature an edge-to-edge quad-curved display, giving the device a more seamless glass-heavy look. Apple is also said to be working with Samsung on an “equal-depth quad-curved” panel design.

The new design could be used for Apple’s next Pro models, although reports differ on whether the company will call them iPhone 19 Pro or skip ahead to iPhone 20 for the anniversary branding.

Apple is also rumored to be testing under-display Face ID and an under-display front camera for the anniversary models.

If ready in time, the technology could help Apple remove the visible Dynamic Island or camera cutout and move closer to a true all-screen design. However, reports still describe this as testing, not a confirmed launch feature.

Other rumored features include solid-state buttons with haptic feedback, replacing traditional mechanical buttons for volume, power, Action Button, and Camera Control functions.

Bigger Battery

The anniversary iPhones are also rumored to include a much larger battery.

Earlier leaks have mentioned a battery capacity of around 6,000mAh, along with possible support for reverse wireless charging. However, some reports warn that these details may be based on early testing or broader feature targets rather than final supply chain confirmation.

Apple is not expected to launch its 20th anniversary iPhone lineup until next year.

For now, the 6.96-inch display, quad-curved design, under-display Face ID, solid-state buttons, larger battery, and reverse wireless charging remain rumored features.

If the leak is accurate, Apple’s next major iPhone redesign may focus less on raw size and more on making the Pro Max feel like a true edge-to-edge glass device.
