STARZPLAY and DW Team Up to Launch the Fifth Season of HER: Women in Asia

STARZPLAY, Pakistan’s fastest-growing streaming platform, is thrilled to collaborate once again with Deutsche Welle (DW) to present the fifth season of the highly popular docuseries, HER: Women in Asia.

Season 5 takes a look at the lives of amazing women all across Asia including three Pakistani women: Erica Robin, Pakistan’s first-ever woman to be crowned Miss Universe Pakistan.

Despite many doubting that a Christian from Karachi could represent deeply conservative Pakistan on the global stage, Erica was ready to break stereotypes and managed to win the hearts of the nation; Eesha Sheikh, whose journey to self-acceptance was a tough one, but she made it and invented an app to help others to feel good in their body; Ayesha Shafqat, the CEO of Jannat Welfare Foundation who not only assists people with special needs, but also challenges institutions for not being user-friendly for everyone because ignorance, she says, is more dangerous than physical disability.

Every year DW’s original series ‘HER’ brings forth universal, diverse, and impactful stories told by real-life heroes from across Asia, including Pakistan, India, Indonesia, and Malaysia.

Like its previous seasons, HER: Season 5 delves into the lives of women from all spheres of Asian societies. How do they mentally withstand the pressure of strict social beauty standards? What ideas do they have for a waste-free life? And what does it mean for women to be “the first”?
