Big Bash League 2024/25: Complete Squad Lists

The 14th season of the Big Bash League (BBL) is set to begin on December 15, 2024 and after the tournament’s draft held in September, there have been several notable moves, squad changes, and updates heading into this highly anticipated season.

Highlights from the Draft

  • Laurie Evans, a longtime member of the Perth Scorchers, made a surprising switch after the Scorchers couldn’t retain him due to budget constraints. They added Finn Allen to strengthen their batting lineup.
  • Hobart Hurricanes signed Rishad Hossain, poised to become the second Bangladeshi player in BBL history, following Shakib Al Hasan. However, Hossain later withdrew due to a scheduling clash with the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
  • English leg-spinner Jafer Chohan, who impressed with 17 wickets in the 2024 T20 Blast, joined the Sydney Sixers, marking his BBL debut.

Leadership Changes and Injury Updates

  • David Warner has been appointed Sydney Thunder captain after Cricket Australia lifted his leadership ban.
  • Marcus Stoinis will captain the Melbourne Stars, replacing Glenn Maxwell, who stepped down last season. Maxwell is racing to recover from a hamstring injury sustained during Australia’s series against Pakistan, putting his participation in doubt.
