The Lahore High Court (LHC) has directed authorities to relocate trees rather than cutting them for the construction of an electric bus depot in Green Town. The decision was made during a hearing presided over by Justice Shahid Karim, addressing various environmental petitions, including issues related to smog.
The court emphasized the importance of preserving trees to protect the environment. Justice Karim commended the government’s ongoing efforts to combat smog, such as tree-planting initiatives and the installation of pollution monitoring systems.
During the hearing, Advocate General of Punjab Khalid Ishaq assured the court that a detailed report on the relocation of trees for the depot’s construction would be submitted in the next session. The court adjourned the hearing to December 13, reaffirming its commitment to sustainable environmental practices.
