Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Flip FE to Revert to In-House Chipsets

Samsung has confirmed to Korean media that production yields for its Exynos 2500 chipset have improved after recent challenges. Hence, the company plans to include the Exynos 2500 in both the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and the Galaxy Z Flip FE, scheduled for release in 2025.

This decision may face criticism from Samsung fans, given the mixed reputation of Exynos chipsets in recent years, involving overheating and throttling performance.

Reports do not mention the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which has sparked speculation that Samsung might opt for a Qualcomm chipset for this model. This possibility aligns with Samsung’s approach to differentiating its foldable devices. The Flip series generally appeals to a broader audience, emphasizing style and accessibility, while the Fold series focuses on users seeking cutting-edge features and higher performance.

Originally, the Exynos 2500 was intended to debut with the Galaxy S25 series, slated for release in January 2025. However, production challenges reportedly led Samsung to switch to Qualcomm processors for those models.

By incorporating the Exynos 2500 into the Galaxy Z Flip7 and Flip FE, Samsung demonstrates a renewed commitment to its in-house chipset development. This strategy allows the company to address prior concerns surrounding Exynos processors while gradually re-establishing them as competitive options in the smartphone market.

As the launch date approaches, we anticipate further details about the chipset’s performance and integration. This could provide a clearer picture of Samsung’s long-term plans for balancing innovation and reliability across its diverse product lineup.
