Pakistan’s premier batter Babar Azam has etched his name into the history books yet again. The 30-year-old achieved two major milestones during the second T20I against South Africa at SuperSport Park, Centurion, on Friday, December 13.
Babar surpassed the legendary Chris Gayle to become the fastest batter to score 11,000 runs in T20 cricket. He also became the second-fastest Pakistani to reach 14,000 international runs, behind only the iconic Mohammad Yousuf.
A Solid Performance Amidst High Expectations
After failing to make an impact in the first T20I, where he was dismissed for a four-ball duck, Babar showed his class in Centurion. Asked to bat one-down, Babar played a confident knock, scoring 31 runs off 20 balls, including three boundaries and one six. Though he fell in the 12th over while trying to accelerate, his innings was enough to secure a place in cricketing history.
