New Zealand secured an emphatic 423-run victory against England in the third Test at Hamilton on Tuesday, concluding their series on a winning note and climbing to fourth place in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) table.
Despite England having already wrapped up the series with victories in the first two Tests, New Zealand delivered a dominant performance to end on a high. Dismissing England for just 234 in their second innings, the Black Caps displayed clinical bowling and batting prowess throughout the match.
Mitchell Santner shone with both bat and ball, taking 4/85 in the second innings and contributing significantly across the Test.
While England’s Jacob Bethell (76) and Joe Root (54) fought hard with half-centuries, their efforts were not enough to withstand New Zealand’s pressure.
England’s Harry Brook, who accumulated 350 runs throughout the series, was adjudged Player of the Series.
New Zealand’s victory saw them claim fourth place on the WTC standings, while England dropped to sixth. Neither side, however, remains in contention for the 2025 WTC Final.
