PSL 10 Players’ Draft Heads to Gwadar’s Scenic Shores

The much-anticipated players’ draft for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 10 is poised to make history by being held in the picturesque city of Gwadar, Balochistan.

Speculation about this unique venue gained momentum after PSL Chief Executive Officer Salman Naseer shared a captivating image of Gwadar Beach on social media, accompanied by a cryptic thinking-face emoji.

Sources reveal that Gwadar as part of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) efforts to expand the PSL’s footprint beyond the league’s traditional host cities—Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan. This move underscores PCB’s commitment to showcasing the country’s diverse regions and engaging cricket fans across the country.

An official announcement regarding the draft venue for PSL 10 is expected within the next 24 hours with Karachi and Lahore also in the running.

The registration window for overseas players to declare their availability for PSL 10 has already opened. Meanwhile, the PCB has unveiled the category renewals for 87 local players, with some notable promotions to the platinum tier.

Among the upgraded stars for PSL 10 ahead of the draft are Karachi Kings’ Hasan Ali, Quetta Gladiators’ Mohammad Amir, Peshawar Zalmi’s Saim Ayub, and Multan Sultans’ Usama Mir. These players join an elite group that includes Imad Wasim, Shadab Khan, Naseem Shah (Islamabad United), Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Shaheen Shah Afridi (Lahore Qalandars), Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Rizwan (Multan Sultans), and Babar Azam (Peshawar Zalmi).

The Diamond category features 16 players, including Sarfaraz Ahmed, Shoaib Malik, and Test captain Shan Masood, ensuring a competitive draft pool.

The PSL 10 players’ draft is scheduled to take place on January 11, 2025, promising excitement and intrigue as teams finalize their rosters for the milestone edition of Pakistan’s premier cricket league.
