Sidra Amin Leads Stars to National Women’s One-Day Tournament Glory

The Stars claimed the National Women’s One-Day Tournament 2024 title with a comprehensive five-wicket victory over the Conquerors at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Captain Sidra Amin’s scintillating 77 off 84 balls and Rameen Shamim’s all-round display steered the Stars to glory in the tournament finale, which also brought them prize money of PKR 1.5 million.

Batting first, the Conquerors, led by Fatima Sana, posted 178 for 9 in their allotted 45 overs.

Hafsa Khalid was the standout performer, scoring a steady 47 off 78 balls with nine boundaries, while Dua Majid contributed 40 runs. Despite some contributions down the order, the total proved insufficient.

The Stars’ bowlers showcased excellent discipline, with pacer Waheeda Akhtar claiming 3 for 33. Spinners Rameen Shamim (2 for 38) and Tuba Hassan (2 for 42) kept the Conquerors’ batters under pressure, supported by Neelam Mushtaq, who chipped in with one wicket.

Chasing 179, Stars overcame early hiccups thanks to a game-changing 103-run fifth-wicket partnership between Sidra Amin and Rameen Shamim. Sidra led from the front, smashing 11 boundaries and a six in her match-winning knock, while Rameen added a composed 37* to steer the chase.

Tuba Hassan’s late cameo (12* off 4 balls) sealed the victory in style, with three boundaries in the 43rd over ensuring the Stars reached the target comfortably in 43.2 overs.
