Pakistan Navy Rescues 9 Crew Members of Indian Cargo Ship

The Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) successfully rescued nine crew members of an Indian cargo ship stranded in challenging conditions.

The vessel, Dhuw Tajdare Harem, was approximately 120 nautical miles south of Karachi when it began flooding on December 26 around 11:00 AM. The crew abandoned the ship and took refuge in a life raft, prompting a search and rescue mission.

Upon receiving information from the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) in Mumbai, the PMSA launched a coordinated operation.

A PMSA aircraft located the survivors, and nearby commercial and PMSA vessels were dispatched to the site. Assistance was also provided by an Indian Coast Guard vessel operating in nearby waters.

This is PMSA’s second successful rescue in December. Earlier this month, the agency saved 12 crew members from the Indian vessel MSV Pirani Pir.

The PMSA remains dedicated to maritime safety and fulfilling its international responsibilities under the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) Convention.
