Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori has announced a grand fireworks display at the Governor House to celebrate the arrival of the New Year. The event, set for December 31, will include public participation, as all five gates of the Governor House will be open to visitors.
“We want to share the joy of the new year with everyone,” Governor Tessori stated, emphasizing the importance of unity and collective celebration. Highlighting the scale of the event, he revealed plans for a 40-minute fireworks show aimed at breaking an international record.
Governor Tessori expressed his hopes for 2025, wishing for peace, security, stability, economic growth, and welfare for the people of Pakistan.
In preparation for the celebrations, the Karachi city administration has implemented section 144 to ensure safety and order. The restriction, effective on December 31 (Tuesday) and January 1 (Wednesday), includes a ban on carrying weapons, aerial firing, and the use of firecrackers.
Commissioner Karachi Syed Hasan Naqvi issued the notification following the recommendation of DIG South Zone Karachi. Authorities warned that violators would face strict action.
The grand fireworks display is expected to be a visual treat, attracting residents of Karachi and beyond to mark the beginning of the new year with festivity and joy.

We pray the Governor has not borrowed money from the IMF/WB for fireworks ddisplay.
Franklyʻ it is uncalled for because the politicians, bureaucrats and the elite will be entertained. The common man will be huddling for warmth. Salams
On one hand imposing section 144 and barred from aerial firing and crackers (which is indeed necessary and a good thing) but on the other hand showing fireworks officially via Governor (what a bad portrayal)
and that will create air so clean and healthy also
