Xiaomi’s SU7 electric sedan has reached a significant milestone in China, delivering 130,000 units within nine months of its launch. This achievement surpasses the brand’s adjusted annual delivery goal, reflecting the strong demand for the vehicle in the Chinese market.
Launched on March 28, 2023, with a price range of 215,900–229,900 yuan ($29,600–$31,500), the SU7 made headlines by securing 50,000 orders within 27 minutes of its debut. Despite initial production challenges, Xiaomi ramped up its manufacturing efforts, accelerating monthly production to 20,000 units by June. This boost significantly contributed to the car’s impressive delivery pace.
The SU7 achieved its first milestone by delivering 10,000 units in its initial month of sales. Over the next 198 days, an additional 90,000 units were delivered, culminating in another 30,000 cars delivered in just 45 days, reaching 130,000 deliveries by December 28. In December Xiaomi reported sales of 16,328 units, as per China EV DataTracker, marking a remarkable performance for a vehicle launched less than a year ago.
Xiaomi also celebrated the first anniversary of the SU7’s official unveiling on December 28, 2023. The company plans to launch its second-phase car plant in 2024, further boosting production capacity to meet growing demand. Additionally, Xiaomi has announced plans to introduce two new models in 2025: the three-motor SU7 Ultra sedan and the Xiaomi YU7 crossover, which are expected to enhance the brand’s presence in the domestic EV market.
