The 2024 season has proven to be another prolific year for the talented left-hander, with his performances earning widespread recognition and helping him climb three places in the latest ICC Test Batters Rankings.
Saud Shakeel’s rise to the sixth spot is a reflection of his excellent form in recent months, He scored 544 runs in 13 outings in test cricket this year courtesy of 2 centuries and 2 fifty-plus scores, earning a place among the best players in the world.
With his strong technique and adaptability across varied conditions, Shakeel has quickly become one of Pakistan’s most reliable and consistent performers in the longest format.

Other than Saud Shakeel, Pakistan’s test players saw plenty of drops in the rankings after going down to South Africa in the first test. Babar Azam fell two places to 19th, Rizwan fell to 21st from 19th Salman Ali Agha dropped five places to 23rd and Imam ul Haq rounded out Pakistan’s places in the top 50 at the 44th spot.
