Winter Vacations Extended in AJK Schools Due to Harsh Weather

The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Education Department has extended winter vacations in schools because of a severe cold wave.

According to a notification issued on Tuesday, all public and private schools will remain closed until January 4, 2025, and classes will resume on February 6 instead of the earlier announced date of February 2.

The decision was made to prioritize the safety and well-being of students and staff, as the harsh weather has made commuting difficult. The department highlighted that the extension aims to address the challenges posed by the cold spell.

Earlier, the Education Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) announced a week-long extension to winter vacation for all schools across the province.

Previously, KP authorities had scheduled winter break from December 22 to December 31 for schools in plain areas. Schools will now reopen on January 7 instead of January 1.
