Engineering University Peshawar’s Teachers Threaten Protest Over Delayed Salaries

The Engineering University Teachers Association (EUTA), Peshawar, has expressed serious concerns over the delayed salaries of university employees. In an emergency meeting chaired by the EUTA President on January 1, 2025, the association discussed the prolonged issue and urged the administration to address the matter promptly.

According to the notice issued by EUTA, the university administration has revealed that although provincial authorities have approved the release of funds for universities, the allocation has not been distributed.

Additionally, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) funds for December 2024 have not been received, further straining the university’s ability to pay salaries.

EUTA highlighted that employee wages are a fundamental right and should be distributed promptly. The association criticized the administration’s failure to foresee and resolve the issue, labeling it as a lack of proactive management.

The association has demanded that salaries be released by January 3, 2025. Failure to do so, EUTA warned, will leave it with no choice but to initiate a protest.
