The government of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) has introduced new entry fees for vehicles and motorcycles entering the region to regulate tourism and generate revenue for sustainable development.
According to a recent notification, tourist vehicles will now be charged Rs. 2,000, while motorcycles entering GB will pay Rs. 500. This move is aimed at managing the increasing influx of visitors to the region, which is famous for its breathtaking landscapes and high-altitude destinations.
These fees are expected to contribute to maintaining infrastructure, managing waste, and preserving the natural beauty of the area. With tourism on the rise, GB’s roads and facilities have come under significant pressure, necessitating measures to support their upkeep.
In addition to these vehicle fees, the government has revised permit charges for mountaineering and trekking, ensuring that the region benefits from the increasing interest in its peaks and trails. While these changes may increase costs for visitors, they reflect the administration’s commitment to sustainable tourism and responsible resource management.
