Here is When Nvidia RTX 5080 is Expected to Hit Stores Around The World

Industry insiders report that Nvidia’s highly anticipated GeForce RTX 5080, positioned as the second most powerful card in their new series, is slated to hit shelves on January 21.

The timing aligns with Nvidia’s presence at CES, where CEO Jensen Huang is scheduled to deliver the opening keynote on January 6. The annual technology showcase is expected to serve as the launchpad for Nvidia’s next-generation Blackwell gaming GPU architecture.

Hong Kong-based tech media outlet HKEPC (@hkepcmedia) suggests consumers can expect to purchase the RTX 5080 roughly two weeks after its official unveiling. Meanwhile, the release timeline for the top-tier RTX 5090 remains shrouded in uncertainty. While speculation suggests it could launch alongside its younger sibling or later in January, no concrete information has emerged regarding its official release date.

As the name says, the upcoming RTX 5080 is meant to succeed the last generation’s RTX 4080. At the heart of this GPU lies the GB203-300-A1 die, featuring an array of 10,752 CUDA cores.

While maintaining the 16 GB VRAM configuration of its predecessor, the RTX 5080 will introduce GDDR7 memory technology. These memory modules are reported to operate at a blazing-fast 30 Gbps.

Technical specifications reveal a 256-bit memory bus width, enabling the card to achieve approximately 960 GB/s of memory bandwidth. This represents a notable leap forward, outperforming the RTX 4080 by 34% and the RTX 4080 Super by 30%. However, this performance boost comes at a cost: the card’s total board power is expected to increase by 80 watts compared to previous models.

Leaks also point to a potential price increase, though we recommend waiting for Nvidia’s official announcement at CES before drawing conclusions about the card’s MSRP and real-world performance metrics.
