Govt to Hire Consultant to Bring Starlink to Pakistan

The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications (MoITT) has decided to complete the hiring of a consultant in a few weeks for regulations in particular for allowing access to Starlink internet in Pakistan.

MoITT held a key meeting chaired by Minister of State Shaza Fatima Khawaja on January 6, 2025, to review the progress on Starlink’s licensing and regulatory frameworks for Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites.

Discussions focused on expediting these processes to ensure a robust regulatory framework for LEO satellites, enhancing connectivity, and driving technological innovation. The Minister emphasized the need for aligning Pakistan’s policies with global standards to unlock satellite technology’s full potential for national growth.

The meeting was attended by Zarrar Hashim Khan, Secretary IT, Ministry of IT & Telecom; Azfar Manzoor, Special Secretary, Ministry of IT & Telecom; Amer Sarfaraz Ahmed, Chairman, Pakistan Space Activities Regulatory Board; Muhammad Yousuf Khan, Chairman, SUPARCO; Maj. Gen (R) Hafeez ur Rehman, Chairman, PTA; and Jehanzeb Rahim, Member (Telecom), Ministry of IT & Telecom.

  • I just love how pathetic this govt is .

They cannot afford better quality internet. They want lesser , low quality and unstable internet . Lol

From the guy who hates pakistan .

Elon musk openly wants Tony Robinson and Nigel farage in charge of 🇬🇧 . Tommy Robinson has openly asked to ban Muslims from 🇬🇧 and 🇪🇺.

Same elon musk that pakistan govt wants to bring to pakistan had openly supporter modi and his own words not mine ( ” I am a fan of modi” ) .

He also supports israel . 😆

    • When you are weak and begger then no one respects you in today’s selfish world.
You will have to bring the technology to provide better investment opportunities rather to block social media and slow down your internet deliberately. How many times Elon Musk has criticized KSA and UAE. My dear it’s all about your money and power.
And please stop copy/paste same comments in every article.

      • Need more internet providers in our country cannot rely on local internet providers. Its time for starlink that works even in aeroplane.

        • It doesn’t work on aeroplanes . It breaks and also the more users the slower the speed. Even Comcast and At&T has better speed then starlink and both are not accessible to everyone in US.

Chinese have better internet then starlink in their villages .

Local internet is faster . We slowed it down

      • Again funny how you didn’t prove me wrong .

What technology ? Musk can’t even create any piece of tech if his life depends on it . Even his Twitter is inaccessible in pakistan. 😆

And what power does tommy Robinson have over him then ? What power does farage have ?

Your strawman doesn’t work . I can copy my comment as much as I want . If you want to prove me wrong then do it .

        Otherwise you are losing badly

  • Consultant will be called

Consultant will be forced to say Starlink should not be allowed in Pak for *made up reasons*

PTA will justify their decision to disallow Starlink by saying the consultant told them to do it

PTA looks innocent and shifts the blame to the ‘Consultant’

Their pathetic predictable strategy can be seen from a mile away. Not sure what the point of all this hype is.

Is Starlink paying ProPK to write all these articles? There have been multiple articles discussing Starlink in the past week alone. Seems suspicious.

  • The idea behind Starlink is to get the high speed internet in remote areas, if you are living in city you can avail high speed internet any way, also Starlink is not cheap, installation cost can easily go upto $500 and base package stars from $120.

  • It will be very disrespectful for honourable, professional and competent IT minister if govt hire consultant to bring starlink.
