The government has named Major General (Retired) Dr. Ghulam Qamar as the Director General of the Directorate General for Religious Education.
A notification issued by the Establishment Division confirms his appointment for a term of three years, starting November 18, 2024. The document specifies that Dr. Ghulam Qamar will hold the position for the full duration of the term.
This decision aligns with a recent pattern in which the current administration has entrusted retired military officials with significant roles in various government departments.
Last year, Lt. General (Retd) Akhtar Nawaz Satti took the oath of the office of Chairman of the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC). Furthermore, former Corps Commander Lt Gen (Retd) Muhammad Amir was appointed Pakistan’s ambassador to Qatar.
