Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam continues to inch toward his old self after climbing to 12th in the latest ICC Test Batter Rankings.
The former captain climbs five spots after being Pakistan’s most consistent performer in the two-match Test series against South Africa.
After a period of significant struggle in recent years which saw him dropped from the Test team altogether, Babar finally seems to have found his footing once again.
After averaging just 20.20 in 2024, Babar has hit the ground running in 2025 where he averages 69.50 on the challenging track of South Africa which bodes well for him and Pakistan.

With his performances against the Proteas, Babar Azam now sits 12th in the ICC Test Batters Rankings. Joe Root continues to lead the table with his countrymate Harry Brook in second.
Meanwhile, for Pakistan, Saud Shakeel sits 11th after a drop of five places while Mohammad Rizwan climbs to 19th with a leap of two spots.
