Pakistan Boxing Federation Revamps Leadership to Comply with Sports Policy

In a significant restructuring move, the Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) has made sweeping changes to its leadership, replacing long-serving office-bearers following their re-election for a third term in December 2024.

Pakistan Boxing Federation’s decision aligns with the Pakistan Sports Board’s (PSB) national sports policy, which limits the tenure of key federation roles to two terms.

Key Changes in Leadership

Khalid Mahmood, who was re-elected as PBF president, has now been named the honorary life president. This emeritus role recognizes his contributions while complying with regulations. Retired Lt. Col Mohammad Nasir Ijaz Tung, who previously held the position of secretary general, has been elevated to president in the reshuffle.

A Step Toward Policy Compliance

The federation’s decision reflects a broader effort to maintain transparency and compliance with PSB mandates, positioning itself as a model of governance within Pakistan’s sporting ecosystem.

With new leadership at the helm and a renewed focus on policy adherence, the PBF is set to continue its efforts to elevate the sport of boxing in Pakistan while strengthening its ties to the international boxing community.
