Samsung to Launch Its Own Tri-Fold Smartphone in 2025

Samsung plans to release its first tri-fold smartphone in the second half of 2025, following Huawei’s Mate XT Ultimate, which launched in September last year.

Reports from Korea indicate that Samsung will initially produce fewer than 300,000 units. This limited availability stems from the complex manufacturing process required for such devices. However, if demand grows, Samsung may expand production in the future.

The tri-fold smartphone will reportedly come at the highest price ever for a Samsung foldable. Unlike Huawei’s Mate XT, which leaves part of the screen exposed when folded, Samsung’s design will fully protect the folding screen. This approach improves durability, addressing a key concern with foldable devices.

The folding mechanism will also offer flexibility in display sizes. When unfolded to the left, the screen will measure 10.5 inches. Extending it further to the right will expand the display to 12.4 inches, reaching tablet levels of screen size.

Samsung Display will supply the screens for this device, ensuring compatibility with the innovative design. On the downside, the device will not feature an under-display camera, a decision that likely prioritizes durability and structural integrity over additional features.

That being said, there is no set launch date for this device as of yet, mostly because the news comes from leaks and insider info. Perhaps we will get to hear more about it as Samsung launches its Z series foldables in summer later this year.
