Martin Guptill, one of New Zealand’s greatest white-ball cricketers, has officially announced his retirement from international cricket. The 38-year-old last represented the Black Caps in October 2022 but took his time before officially confirming his decision. He will continue to play in T20 leagues worldwide.
Martin Guptill leaves the international stage as New Zealand’s second-highest run-scorer in ODIs, amassing 7346 runs in 198 matches. Only Ross Taylor (8607) and Stephen Fleming (8007) have scored more for the Black Caps in this format. In T20Is, Guptill remains New Zealand’s all-time leading run-scorer with 3531 runs in 122 matches at a strike rate of 135.70.
