PCB Relocates Tri-Series Amidst Preparations for ICC Champions Trophy 2025

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a major shift in plans as part of its preparations for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 concerning the upcoming tri-nation ODI series.

Originally scheduled to be held in Multan, the tri-series will now be relocated to Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium and Karachi’s National Bank Stadium as confirmed by PCB.

The series, featuring Pakistan, New Zealand, and South Africa, will serve as a key test for the newly upgraded venues, showcasing Pakistan’s readiness to deliver world-class facilities for players, officials, and fans.

Advanced Preparations at Upgraded Venues

The PCB cited the advanced stage of renovations at Gaddafi Stadium and National Bank Stadium as the primary reason for the relocation. With significant upgrades nearing completion, these venues are poised to meet international standards ahead of the Champions Trophy.

The PCB reassured fans and stakeholders that all renovation work is on track to be completed by late January, ensuring both stadiums are ready to host not only the tri-series but also high-profile international events in the future.

Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore

• Increased Spectator Capacity: The stadium now boasts a capacity of 35,000, with new, comfortable seating throughout the venue.
• Enhanced Broadcast Quality: 480 state-of-the-art LED lights have been installed to ensure superior LUX levels for global broadcasts.
• Digital Replay Screens: Two massive screens, measuring 80×30 feet and 22×35 feet, will be installed next week to elevate the viewing experience.
• Player and Official Hospitality: A brand-new hospitality enclosure will be operational by January 25.

National Bank Stadium, Karachi

• Improved Visibility: 350 LED lights have been installed to ensure optimal coverage for international broadcasts.
• Upgraded Facilities: A new players’ and officials’ hospitality enclosure has been completed, and two digital replay screens are already in place.
• Spectator Comfort: 5,000 new chairs have been installed to enhance the fan experience.

While the primary focus has been on Lahore and Karachi, Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium is also undergoing improvements. These include the installation of 10,000 new chairs, upgrades to hospitality boxes, and two digital replay screens. The upgrades aim to align the venue with international standards for future events.
