Sydney Thunder has bolstered their squad for the remainder of the (Big Bash League) BBL 14 season by signing Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Hasnain and England all-rounder George Garton. The duo replaces Lockie Ferguson and Sherfane Rutherford, who are departing due to commitments in another T20 league.
Mohammad Hasnain, who previously represented Sydney Thunder in BBL11, is known for his blistering pace and game-changing spells. The 24-year-old, fresh off consistent performances in T20 competitions in Pakistan, is eager to reignite his BBL career.
“I’m excited to return to the BBL and Sydney Thunder,” Hasnain said. “I’ve been playing a lot of short-form cricket recently on diverse wickets and look forward to using that preparation to contribute to the team’s success.”
The young pacer left a lasting impression during his previous stint with Thunder, delivering match-winning spells and bowling at speeds exceeding 150 km/h. His addition is expected to provide the Thunder with a crucial edge in their bowling attack.
Thunder General Manager Trent Copeland expressed confidence in Hasnain’s ability to make an immediate impact.
“When replacing someone like Lockie Ferguson, we targeted an X-factor player,” Copeland said. “Hasnain’s raw pace and wicket-taking ability stood out. He was phenomenal for us in BBL|11, and at just 24 years old, he brings energy and a hunger to succeed.”
Hasnain’s BBL Stats:
| Tournament | Team | Matches | Innings | Balls | Runs | Wickets | BBI | BBM | Average | Economy | Strike Rate | 4W | 5W |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Big Bash League | Sydney Thunder | 5 | 5 | 110 | 110 | 7 | 3/20 | 3/20 | 15.71 | 6.00 | 15.7 | 0 | 0 |
With Hasnain’s raw pace and Garton’s all-round capabilities, Sydney Thunder is poised to make a strong push toward the playoffs in BBL14. Fans will be eagerly watching how these new additions impact the team’s performance in the coming games.
