Punjab Schools to Hire More Teachers and Staff Soon

The Punjab government has announced a new plan to tackle staffing shortages in public schools across the province, aiming to fill both teaching and non-teaching positions to improve the performance of these institutions.

The School Education Department (SED) has instructed the Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of District Education Authorities (DEAs) to submit comprehensive recruitment plans for vacant posts in their respective areas. To oversee the process, a five-member committee has been established, led by the SED additional secretary.

Other members include the Directors of Public Instruction (DPI) for secondary and elementary education, a deputy director of monitoring, an additional program director, and a department representative.

The committee will evaluate the plans and oversee the recruitment process. Additionally, the initiative includes integrating staff from outsourced institutions to bring in expertise, especially for non-teaching roles, enhancing the schools’ overall efficiency.

The Monitoring Unit will assist by identifying schools with vacancies, listing staff awaiting posting, and ensuring personnel are allocated to areas with the greatest need. However, teachers awaiting assignment will not be sent to schools slated for outsourcing in upcoming reform phases.

A senior SED official stated that the plan aims to improve education quality by addressing staffing gaps, creating better learning environments, and raising educational standards across Punjab.

  • If left to District authority to recruit teachers then neither marit nor posts will be advertised. If Govt is serious then for hiring of new teachers must be given to PPSC.
