Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s Venues Can Now be Booked for Free

Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab announced on Sunday that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) would offer its buildings, parks, and open spaces free of charge for educational, literary, and cultural events.

In a statement, he assured full support from KMC to facilitate such initiatives, highlighting key venues under KMC’s management that could host these events. These include the Baradari at Polo Ground, Frere Hall, Khaliq Dina Hall, Denso Hall, the City Council Hall in the KMC building, Bagh Ibn-e-Qasim, Kidney Hill Park, and Aziz Bhatti Park, among others.

Mayor Wahab explained that the initiative aims to promote cultural and intellectual exchange through weekly discussions on the city’s development and heritage. “These sessions will feature prominent intellectuals, writers, critics, and cultural figures who will share ideas on enhancing and beautifying Karachi,” he said.

The mayor emphasized the need to revive Karachi’s cultural vibrancy, recalling its history as a thriving hub of knowledge and creativity. “By reopening these historically significant KMC spaces, we aim to create platforms for art exhibitions, music performances, seminars, conferences, and poetry recitals. This will provide artists, musicians, and writers with opportunities to showcase their work and engage in meaningful discussions about Karachi’s past, present, and future.”

Expressing concern over the decline of Karachi’s cultural identity, he underscored the importance of reclaiming the city’s status as a center for intellectual and artistic pursuits.

For those interested in organizing events at KMC venues, Mayor Wahab encouraged them to contact the Senior Director of Media Management at the KMC office on the first floor of the KMC Building on M.A. Jinnah Road.
