In a shocking turn of events, young Pakistani fast bowler Ihsanullah announced his retirement from the Pakistan Super League (PSL), citing deep disappointment after going unpicked in the recent PSL draft.
The 21-year-old pacer expressed his frustration and heartbreak in a recent interview, particularly over being overlooked by his former team, the Multan Sultans.
Ihsanullah, once hailed as one of Pakistan’s most promising young fast bowlers, had made a name for himself with his ability to bowl at speeds exceeding 150 km/h consistently. However, his career took a devastating turn after a botched surgery, which was meant to address an injury, left him struggling to regain his previous form and pace.
Despite his setbacks, Ihsanullah remained optimistic about his recovery and assured fans and teams that he was working hard to return to his peak. However, his assurances were not enough to convince PSL franchises, as he was left unpicked in the draft for the upcoming season.
Ihsanullah’s disappointment was particularly directed at the Multan Sultans, the team he had previously represented in the PSL. The young pacer had a close relationship with the franchise and its owner, Ali Tareen, who had supported him financially during his recovery. Tareen had reportedly borne all the expenses for Ihsanullah’s surgery and rehabilitation, a gesture that the bowler had publicly acknowledged and appreciated in the past.
In the wake of the draft snub, Ihsanullah announced his retirement from the PSL, stating that Ali Tareen didn’t value him but valued his talent.
