The Secretary of College Education, Asif Akram, has officially prohibited government college teachers in Sindh from engaging in private tutoring or teaching at coaching centers during official working hours.
A notice was issued to all college principals, highlighting concerns that some teachers are prioritizing private tutoring over their assigned responsibilities. This neglect has reportedly led to reduced student attendance and disrupted the academic environment.
The directive emphasized that using government time for personal gain is unprofessional, unethical, and entirely unacceptable. Teachers, who hold the critical responsibility of shaping students’ futures, must remain focused on their duties during official hours.
Principals have been directed to strictly monitor teacher attendance and ensure all classes are conducted as scheduled. Teachers found violating this directive by engaging in private teaching during work hours will face disciplinary action under the Sindh Civil Servants (Efficiency and Discipline) Rules 1973.
Principals who fail to enforce compliance will also be held accountable.
