The Lahore-based religious institution, Jamia Naeemia, has issued a fatwa condemning the use of illegal methods for traveling abroad.
The decree, jointly issued by Dr. Mufti Raghib Hussain Naeemi and Mufti Imran Hanfi, states that such practices are not only unlawful under the law but also go against Islamic teachings. It emphasizes that taking any action that risks one’s life, including suicide, is strictly prohibited in Shariah.
The fatwa underscores that Islam does not permit ending one’s own life or engaging in acts that could lead to death, regardless of the circumstances. It advises individuals to prioritize legal and safe channels when seeking to travel internationally.
Additionally, the decree declares it impermissible for agents or intermediaries to charge money for facilitating illegal travel. It calls on the government to enact strict measures against those who exploit innocent citizens by endangering their lives through unlawful practices.
Jamia Naeemia’s statement serves as both a religious and ethical reminder, urging people to avoid illegal migration and highlighting the importance of safeguarding lives by adhering to the law and Islamic principles.
