A Spanish hunter named David has successfully hunted a Kashmir markhor in the Bokhtoli forest along the Chitral-Garam Chashma Road.
He secured the hunting permit through the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wildlife Department by paying a fee of Rs. 78 million.
Members of the local Village Conservation Committee, along with community residents, supported him during the hunt.
The markhor’s horns measured an impressive 44 inches, making it the final trophy hunt of the season. Earlier in the season, an American hunter had hunted a markhor in Toshi, while another Spanish hunter had successfully hunted one in Gahiret.
Eighty percent of the permit fee is directed to the local community, funding various development projects. In exchange, the community actively participates in efforts to protect and conserve the markhor population in the region.
