Samsung Tri-Fold Smartphone Launch Date Tipped for Q3 2025

Samsung is preparing to unveil its highly anticipated tri-fold smartphone, aiming to compete directly with Huawei’s Mate XT. A new report confirms that Samsung will launch the device in the third quarter of 2025. The release will likely align with the debut of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 at Samsung’s annual foldable device launch event in July.

The tri-fold smartphone will feature a unique design that folds to protect its flexible screen when not in use, unlike the Huawei Mate XT that folds outwatds. When unfolded, the device’s display is expected to measure 9.9 inches and 10 inches, offering a large tablet-like experience.

Samsung reportedly plans to produce only 200,000 units of the tri-fold device, indicating a cautious approach to this experimental product. Production will begin in the second quarter of 2025, between April and June, to prepare for the Q3 launch.

Additionally, Samsung will introduce four foldable devices, including the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and the more affordable Galaxy Z Flip FE, in addition to the tri-fold smartphone. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 will definitively eliminate its digitizer, likely to increase the thinnes to match up with the compeititon from Oppo and Honor.

Samsung has not officially confirmed the chipset for the tri-fold device yet, but the Fold 7 and Flip 7 will likely feature the Exynos 2500. Samsung deliberately excluded this chipset from the Galaxy S25 series due to yield issues. Meanwhile, Samsung will power the Galaxy Flip FE with the Exynos 2400e, aiming to offer a more affordable option for foldable device enthusiasts.
