Emirates Airlines has decided to expand its operations in Pakistan by establishing a cargo business hub at Karachi Airport.
According to a report, the airline has approached the Airports Authority, requesting 90,000 square feet for a cargo terminal.
This decision comes as Emirates aims to meet the growing demand for cargo services. Currently, Emirates leads the cargo business in Karachi, handling over 27,000 tons of cargo in 2024 alone.
In contrast, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) managed to handle only 2,000 tons of cargo from Karachi during the same period due to a lack of focus and effective planning.
As per sources, the Airports Authority has started working on Emirates’ request to allocate space for the cargo terminal at Karachi Airport.
