Missing Files Expose CDA’s Land Transfer Scandal

Dozens of fraudulent land transfers in Islamabad under the Capital Development Authority (CDA) have been exposed. A parliamentary panel recently highlighted a case involving a missing file for a house in Sector I-10/4, which distressed the rightful owner.

Sources allege that CDA officials colluded with property dealers and manipulated files to cover up illegal allotments. Many plots were reportedly allocated to land affectees using fake documents and later sold to unsuspecting buyers.

These transactions were transferred multiple times, but when investigations began, the original files vanished. The CDA admitted to identifying 87 such cases, nullifying them after investigation.

Among these, 68 were first-time transfers, and 31 cases were referred for further inquiry. The authority claimed a “mafia” worked with corrupt insiders to exploit citizens, leading to the dismissal of four employees in recent months.

Senator Abdul Shakoor Khan criticized the CDA for failing to detect irregularities during earlier transfers, leaving innocent buyers to suffer.

In response, the CDA promised strict action against those involved and vowed to prevent further fraud. However, the Senate committee found the CDA’s measures insufficient, urging greater accountability and relief for affected individuals.
