Traffic Police Crackdown Makes More People Apply for Driving Licenses in Sindh

Traffic police’s recent crackdown on unlicensed drivers has led to a surge in driving license applications.

Over the first 21 days of January 2025, 68,950 licenses were issued, an increase of 26,903 compared to the same period in December 2024, when 41,047 licenses were issued.

According to details, 44,845 learner’s licenses, 9,887 permanent licenses, and 13,218 renewals were processed in January. In contrast, 24,111 learner’s licenses, 7,384 permanent licenses, and 9,552 renewals were issued in December.

Iqbal Dara, Deputy Inspector General of Police for Training and Licences, stated that the drive to issue licenses started in mid-December after the Sindh government took action against unlicensed drivers.

The crackdown has had a notable effect, with license applications doubling in the past month.

Additionally, citizens can now apply online for learner’s licenses or renewals, paying fees digitally and receiving their licenses directly at home, streamlining the process for greater convenience.
